The Suzuki Ignis has been announced as one of three finalists for the 2017 World Urban Car award
Suzuki’s all-new Ignis is now one of only three contenders vying for the 2017 World Urban Car of the Year Award, as announced at the Geneva International Motor Show yesterday.
The second round of voting sent the Ford Ka+ and Smart Cabriolet packing, leaving the BMW i3 and Citroen C3 challenging the Ignis for the top spot.
This is the inaugural award for the category with the other five remaining unchanged from last year – ‘World Luxury Car’, ‘World Performance Car’, ‘World Green Car’, ‘World Car Design of the Year’ and the champion ‘World Car of the Year’.
Andrew Moore, Suzuki Australia Director Automobiles noted, “We were thrilled in January to hear that the Ignis had been nominated for such a prestigious award but to make the cut to the final three, and with such a high calibre of competition, really solidifies our views that the Ignis is a global leader in its class.”
Joshua Dowling, News Limited Australia National Motoring Editor, and Paul Gover, Carsguide Editor-at-Large, will be representing Australian motoring media on the panel of 75 global jurors set with the task of crowning the winners at the New York International Motor Show next month.
With jurors being announced back in August of last year, the entire process has been thorough, to say the least. We’re now left with the crème de la crème in each category with some interesting results ahead, no doubt.
