In light of ANZAC Day, Suzuki Australia is pleased to continue to support the Pozieres Remembrance Association.
Pozieres Remembrance Association exists to remember Australia’s costliest battle - the 1916 battle of Pozieres in the French village of Pozieres. A battle largely unknown and uneducated in Australia, it claimed 23,000 Australian casualties, and 7,000 deaths in just six weeks.
The site of the battle has previously been described as ‘the one place on earth most densely sown in Australian sacrifice.’ Some 4,112 soldiers were never found or identified after the battle and still lie in the fields of the village to this day.
Suzuki has supported the Pozieres association for the last four years in various ways to promote the cause. Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automotive, Michael Pachota and Pozieres Remembrance Association President - Barry Gracey said the relationship was of significance for both parties.
“Pozieres is an incredibly important part of not only Australian history, but also world history and warrants the recognition it deserves and Suzuki is pleased to assist the cause†said Pachota.
Pozieres Remembrance Association President - Barry Gracey said “We need to thank Suzuki Australia for all the support they have given us. We could not have made the progress we have to date without their support.â€
