Suzuki Celerio has topped the RACV’s annual “running costs” survey, continuing on in the footsteps of Alto which won for 3 consecutive years.
According to RACV, the Suzuki Celerio not only beat the competition to be the cheapest new car to purchase and own, it was also the only model to drop below the $100 barrier at $97.65 for average weekly ownership costs.
Taking into account purchase price, depreciation, petrol prices, maintenance and insurance, the Celerio’s average cost was calculated at a tiny 33.85 cents per kilometre in Victoria!
With its leading safety of six airbags and ESC plus the economy of just 4.7 litres per 100 kilometres, the Suzuki Celerio – now available with automatic transmission from just $13,990 drive away – is clearly one of the best value new cars on the market.
The good news continued for Suzuki owners with the Swift taking out the running cost award for the light car segment in the same survey at $128.85/week making it the fifth cheapest overall.
The Swift was also the only automatic in the top five, with the four cheapest models in Victoria all fitted with manual transmissions.
“Suzuki has always regarded outstanding value for money as a cornerstone of its philosophy,” said Suzuki Australia Automobiles General Manager Andrew Moore.
“The results speak for themselves and we are extremely proud of this recognition by Australia’s leading independent motoring authorities. And with the launch of the new Vitara very soon, I'm confident we will lead the way for great value motoring in the SUV space too.”
