Subaru has passed the 800,000 sales milestone in Australia, 42 years after starting operations here.
And official VFACTS figures released today show August sales of 3361 are the brand’s best ever for the month.
Year-to-date (YTD) Outback sales of 7239 have also passed the model’s previous annual record of 6658, in 2004. Outback sales are up 326.3 per cent YTD and 463.0 per cent for the month.
New generation Liberty also continues to sell strongly, with 324 in August, up 523.1 per cent for the month and 270.6 per cent YTD.
Forester sales of 910 were also up 11.7 per cent for the month.
Subaru’s August sales were up 15.9 per cent and 8.9 per cent for the year, defying market growth of just 2.9 per cent for the month and 3.2 per cent for the year.
While it took over 31 years for Subaru to pass 400,000 cumulative sales, just over another 10 years were sufficient to add the next 400,000+, indicative of the brand’s increasing Australian success.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “We’re also on track for another record year in 2015, which would mean annual records in 16 out of 18 years.”
Subaru sold 40,502 vehicles in Australia in 2014, achieving 0.8 per cent positive growth, compared to the market decline of -2.0 per cent.
Up to the end of August this year, Subaru had sold 28,374 vehicles.
