Toyota's Certified Used Vehicles program has gone from strength to strength with 10,000 buyers having now bought their car safe in the knowledge that it is backed by Australia's most trusted automotive brand after passing a comprehensive inspection and background check.
This added level of protection is just another reason why the 10,000th buyer - a dedicated RAV4 fan - is so happy with her recent purchase.
Janine Wiles of Forest Lake in Queensland became the Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program's 10,000th buyer when she purchased a 2012 RAV4 Cruiser from Mackay Toyota in February.
"Knowing that my RAV4 is a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle gives me extra reassurance that it's going to be safe and dependable," said the 39-year-old Department of Defence employee.
And it's not the first RAV4 she's owned.
"My first one was a 1998 model, then my second was a 2011 Cruiser and this is my third. I've never had another car - I've only ever driven Toyota RAV4s."
A hailstorm last year left her 2011 RAV4 so badly damaged it had to be written off, and when it came time to buy another car she wanted the same again.
"When they took the hail damaged car away I wouldn't buy another car until I found a RAV4," she said.
"I like the design and the safety as well. They're very comfortable to drive, and you've always got plenty of space to throw a few things in and go away for the weekend. I've always liked them."
Toyota Australia executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb thanked Ms Wiles and said that passing the 10,000 sales mark was proof Australians trusted the quality and assurance that comes with a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle.
"We truly appreciate the loyalty Janine has shown and we're grateful for her purchase," he said.
"More than 10,000 buyers just like her have now experienced the peace of mind that comes with purchasing a car through the Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program - it's the next best thing to buying a new Toyota," he said.
"The success of the Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program shows that buyers value the extra protection it brings when choosing their next used car.
"The Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program is an example of Toyota's determination to ensure the best possible customer experience," Mr Cramb said.
Toyota Certified Used Vehicles are covered by a dealer statutory warranty and one year of nationwide roadside assistance.
The Toyota Certified Used Vehicles program was launched in 2012 and requires that cars must be less than 10 years old, have fewer than 160,000km on the clock and pass a rigorous 90-point quality assurance inspection.
In the case of hybrid vehicles a detailed examination covers components specific to this powertrain, such as the hybrid transaxle, control modules and battery.
All cars in the program are given a vehicle history check to ensure they have a clear title and have not been written-off, stolen or suffered flood damage.
