Subaru’s new generation All-Wheel Drive Outback has established a new monthly sales record of 890, according to official VFACTS figures released today.
Outback broke its previous record of 829, from March 2006.
The February figure is 261.8 per cent ahead of the same month last year.
The new record gave Outback an impressive 9.3 per cent share of the Large SUV < $70k market, placing it fourth overall in the segment.
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “Outback sales are testament to the fantastic vehicle Subaru has produced.
“It’s a credit to the engineers, designers, product planners and the overseas sales team.
“They have looked at, and listened to, the Australian market.
“They went back to Japan and developed an Outback that is designed for Australian conditions, lifestyle and taste – and at a value-for-money price.”
Total Subaru sales of 3223 in February were also boosted by sales of 421 new generation Libertys – up 352.7 per cent on February 2014, making it the third best seller in the Medium Car < $60k segment.
Also contributing strongly to Subaru’s February figure was XV, with 765 sales, up 12.8 per cent on the previous February.
