ŠKODA Australia announces EU6 engine and equipment upgrades with MY16 updates (490)

Š KODA Australia is pleased to announce a range of changes to its model line-up with the arrival of its new MY16 specification vehicles, which includes a number of new, more powerful engines, and the addition of new standard equipment, across its Rapid, Octavia and Yeti model lines.

The MY16 updates to theŠKODA line-up represents a number of key upgrades to its existing model line as the brand continues to offer its customers excellent value for money and the best of European design and engineering. These model year changes can be broken down in terms of engine and equipment upgrades.

Engines

Across the Rapid, Octavia and Yeti model lines, the petrol engines have had a number of upgrades in terms of power as they move from a Euro 5 rating to the latest Euro 6 rating. With this shift to new EU6 engines, upgraded lines also receive stop/start with brake energy recuperation technology as standard.

Both the 77TSI Rapid and Yeti models now receive an 81TSI engine, with the 90TSI moving to a 92kW power output for both models. The entry level of the best-selling Octavia sees the greatest power increase in its TSI engine, moving from 103kW to 110kW. The 132TSI engine is now offered solely in the Octavia Scout.

Equipment

The inclusion of new standard equipment is also a significant feature ofŠKODA Australia's MY16 upgrades.

The Rapid now receives a 5-inch touch screen "Swing" radio based on Volkswagen Group's modular infotainment matrix (MIB), while the Octavia sees two changes to its infotainment offering: the 5.8-inch Bolero radio grows in size to 6.5-inches, and the 8-inch Columbus unit gains WiFi and the latest SmartLink™ technology. The Yeti Outdoor 4x4 also now receives 17-inch black "Erebus" alloy wheels, replacing the standard silver alloys offered in the previous model year.
