Subaru has revised the pricing of its entry-level Forester 2.0i manual All-Wheel Drive to $29,990 Manufacturer's List Price*, a $1000 saving, effective February 1, 2014.

Forester is the best-seller in Subaru's range and has been a multiple award-winner since it established the compact Sports Utility Vehicle segment in 1997.

Subaru Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “Forester has long been a winning package for Subaru and our new entry-level price will further underline the formidable value that it represents, combined with its great reputation for safety, engineering, durability and retained value.

“The safety benefits and flexibility of All-Wheel Drive are another Forester plus as some other brands charge a considerable premium for the technology, way above their entry-level two-wheel drive variants.”

All Foresters have an independent five-star rating for occupant safety from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

Variants of current generation Forester have won several awards both locally and overseas including:

Best SUV under $45,000 in the Australia’s Best Cars awards, from the nation’s combined motoring organizations

Best SUV in the Yahoo Autos Car of the Year awards, in the United States

Mid Range SUV of the Year by U.K. 4x4 Magazine

Best Car to Buy 2014 by U.S. automotive publisher High Gear Media

2014 Sport/Utility of the Year by U.S. Motor Trend magazine

The U.S. specification Forester previously won the Motor Trend award in 2009 and Outback in 2010, meaning Subaru is the only brand to have won the award three times.  

In May 2013, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS, a non-profit organisation supported by auto insurers in the U.S.) awarded the best possible ranking of 2013 TOP SAFETY PICK + to the Forester currently sold in the North American region.
