Ford Ranger edges towards number one nameplate (743)

The Ford Ranger has achieved more than 4000 sales in May as it comes closer than ever to becoming Australia’s number one nameplate. The Ranger’s total of 4069 for the month saw 4x4 leadership achieved, with a 912-vehicle advantage over the next-best Hilux, which saw Ranger snapping at it heels to close within 85 sales of market leadership.

Against May 2016, Ranger sales are up a substantial 30.6-percent for the month, outpacing Hilux’s 13.0-percent growth and easily out-performing the segment’s 9.5-percent rise.

The result saw Ranger fall a single unit short of its best month ever, which saw a total of 4070 Rangers sold in June 2016.

“Ranger has been incredibly successful, and we’ve continued to offer updates with more equipment, such as SYNC ®3 in 2016 and FX4 model, which has a unique look and leather-appointed upholstery,” said Sales Director, Greg Davidson. “We continue to sharpen our offering to provide customers more car-like features, comfort and technology, wrapped up in a highly-capable package that delivers a five-star ANCAP safety rating.”

In 2016, Ranger benefitted from updates that included SYNC ®3, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, voice-activated sat-nav as well as an 8.0-inch touchscreen with a more user-friendly interface.

Ranger’s equal best-in-class towing and payload capabilities also play a significant role in speaking to Australian lifestyles, with its ability as a handsome, rugged vehicle translating into genuine ability as well as the versatility to be used for weekday work and weekend play.
