Ford EcoSport SUV offers fresh look (832)

The 2018MY Ford EcoSport will offer buyers greater comfort, convenience and choice with a fresh look, fuel efficient engines and SYNC® 3 infotainment. EcoSport is designed for around-town urban flexibility thanks to clever packaging, high ground clearance and benefits that have made SUVs the most popular type of vehicle in Australia’s roads in 2017.

“The Ford EcoSport brings a new, smart look to Ford’s expanding SUV line-up, but importantly allows Australians – who we know love SUVs – a compact vehicle that offers a raised seating position, interior space and overall flexibility,” said Ford President and CEO, Graeme Whickman. “That’s why we’ve seen SUVs overtake passenger car sales in 2017, and we’ve responded to this with a broader range for Australians to choose from, with a new Escape, more Everest models and the confirmation that we will launch the all-new Endura in 2018.”

Ford EcoSport: The urban SUV with a fresh new look in a practical package
The 2018MY Ford EcoSport features bold, dynamic Ford SUV styling, in-line with that of the mid-sized Escape. A sculpted bonnet with a central bulge delivers a cleaner front-end, led by a new large trapezoidal grille design and distinctive angular headlights. These are now offered with a High Intensity Discharge lighting system on Titanium that also incorporates stylish LED daytime running lights. Angular fog light housings complete a front three-quarter profile inspired by the straps of a rucksack, reflecting EcoSport’s adventurous character.

EcoSport’s rear bumper and tail light designs also are revised to deliver a cleaner, more sculpted appearance. Customers can choose from six fresh exterior colours – three of which are new – including Lightning Blue, Canyon Ridge and classic Diamond White, which give the EcoSport strong definition as part of the Ford family, while maintaining its easy-to-drive urban friendly packaging. This includes its high driving position as well as 209mm of ground clearance, attributes that resonate with the growing Australian SUV audience.

Easy to live with: SYNC^® 3 brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto^v to EcoSport
A user-centric, upscale interior offers SYNC^® 3 as standard equipment across the EcoSport range. SYNC^® 3 includes voice-activated sat-nav on Trend and Titanium, and EcoSport drivers and passengers can also connect their smartphone via Bluetooth or USB, with full Apple CarPlay with Siri voice commands as well as Android Auto compatibility.

SYNC^® 3 also enables AppLink^vi, which allows customers to use mobile apps, including Spotify for music streaming, through the EcoSport’s infotainment system. DAB+ digital radio is also standard across the range, enabling crisp digital radio across the EcoSport line-up from the steering-wheel mounted controls.

While 6.5-inches on the entry-level Ambiente, the sharp, full-colour display is a full 8.0-inch multi-use touchscreen on Trend and Titanium models, and displays outputs from EcoSport’s standard rear-view camera. The camera itself is mounted on the rear fascia, providing excellent visibility to the driver. It also contains proximity guide lines and curve path indication to assist with reversing, and is teamed with rear-parking sensors across the entire EcoSport range.

SYNC^® 3 also brings Emergency Assistance as standard across the EcoSport line-up, joining Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Launch Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution on all models. The flagship EcoSport Titanium also includes Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross-Traffic Alert, as well as Smart Keyless Entry with push-button start as standard equipment.

More efficient with EcoBoostThe 2018MY Ford EcoBoost is offered with a choice of two engines. The entry-level Ambiente is powered by a new 90kW/150Nm 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine, representing an 8kW and 10Nm gain over the previous Ambiente. It’s teamed with a new 6-speed automatic transmission for a smoother, enjoyable drive, heightening the convenience and clever simplicity of EcoSport.

For EcoSport Trend and flagship Titanium, the award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost with 92kW/170Nm is mated to an automatic transmission for the first time. The new 6-speed automatic is offered with paddle-shifters on Titanium, delivering greater drivability yet remaining affordable to own – core characteristics buyers of EcoSport demand in an urban SUV.

Powerful, Practical, PrudentEcoSport now also offers a greater level of interior refinement with easy-to-use controls and soft-touch materials, and a new centre console ergonomically designed for easy operation and featuring fewer buttons. New seat designs are optimised for greater front and rear occupant comfort, and deliver a more upscale feel, including partial leather on Titanium.

The EcoSport interior also benefits from fresh materials, with a newly designed centre console featuring an armrest and media bin including two easy-to-find illuminated USB ports. There is also a handy storage tray beneath the front passenger seat to make life in an EcoSport easier, one of more than 20 compartments in the EcoSport cabin.

The EcoSport brings improved packaging, which sees an even smarter use of interior space. While up front there is comfortably room for tall passengers, the EcoSport’s rear seats boast an intelligent ‘flip and fold’ system. This enables owners to flip the rear seats at the touch of a button, with no need for heavy lifting or awkward positioning in order to access the rear cargo area, which offers generous space of up to 1,178 litres. A new cargo management system features a height adjustable boot floor that can be raised to provide concealed storage, or lowered to increase luggage capacity. Here, the EcoSport’s urban-friendly ride height also aids ease of loading and unloading of the cargo area, whether at the shopping centre or on a weekend getaway.
