As technology and innovation continues to achieve more from less, Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology goes further to offer customers more refined and accessible power and torque from smaller and more fuel efficient engines.
As part of Ford’s product onslaught, Ford will introduce three new EcoBoost engines to new or refreshed models by mid-2015 to offer customers more power and economy with EcoBoost technology.
Already confirmed on the 2015 Ford Kuga, the new 110 kW, 134 kW and 176 kW EcoBoost engines will feature in a range of models next year.
“Ford EcoBoost delivers outstanding performance and great economy, a recipe that is proving incredibly popular with our customers,” said Ford Australia Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Service, Graeme Whickman.
EcoBoost technology combines smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to offer customers outstanding performance and fuel economy.
“EcoBoost technology is at the cutting edge of engine downsizing and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost winning International Engine of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 is a clear proof point of that,”
In 2014, Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine beat Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre TSI twincharger and the Mercedes-AMG 2.0-litre turbo, among other engines, to take out overall International Engine of the Year.
“What EcoBoost means for customers is the latest technology offering better performance and better fuel economy.”
Ford EcoBoost engines deliver up to 20 per cent better fuel economy than larger-displacement petrol engines.
EcoBoost technology is currently available on seven nameplates in Australia, and will be offered on nearly 80 per cent of the company’s passenger vehicle nameplates by the end of 2015.
