Australians trust Toyota the most: survey (382)

Toyota has been named the most trusted automotive brand in Australia for the ninth consecutive year.

The latest accolade gives Toyota an enviable double: it is also Australia's best-selling automotive brand.

More than 2,400 Australians were polled for the "Most Trusted" brands survey conducted for Reader's Digest Australia.

The magazine said the survey was designed to identify the brands that enjoy the on-going trust of Australians because they continue to offer quality and substance.

It said trusted brands ensure their products are reliable, recognisable and useful for consumers who are savvy at decoding brand messages and quick to detect those that suit their lives and lifestyles - and those that do not.

Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the company valued the trust and loyalty it had earned among Australian drivers over more than 50 years of doing business in this country.

"Toyota has worked hard to develop a rich heritage of class-leading vehicles built on the principles of quality, durability and reliability, all while being fun to drive," Mr Cramb said.

"The strong relationship we have built with our customers has also resulted in sustained business success," he said.

"For the past 11 consecutive years, Toyota has been the best-selling automotive brand in Australia while Corolla was Australia's best-selling car last year - a feat it has repeated so far this year."

Mr Cramb said Toyota's consistently strong performance in the annual survey was a tribute to employees throughout the company and its national dealer network.

"Toyota is proud to be the most trusted among more than 50 automotive brands in Australia. We are determined to keep improving our vehicles and all aspects of our business in the interests of our customers and their families," he said.

Australian motorists have bought almost six million Toyota vehicles while more than one million locally built Toyota cars have been exported.

"They are renowned for their race car involvement and learn about safety by performing in these types of events. They then put their knowledge into building safe, economical road cars." - Male, 18-24, Victoria.

"I have had six Toyotas and can't fault them or Toyota's service." - Female, 65-69, Queensland.
