Peugeot 5008 SUV Wins 'Large SUV(982)

PEUGEOT’S 5008 SUV has taken out the ‘Large SUV of the Year’ category in the 2019 What Car? Car of the Year awards for the second year in a row, carrying-off one of the British automotive industry’s most prestigious accolades.

The What Car? Judging team praised the 5008 SUV for its high build quality and use of premium materials, including soft touch fabrics. Judges were also impressed by Peugeot’s innovative i-Cockpit®, advanced driver assistance systems and the 5008 SUV’s low running costs.

Peugeot 5008 SUV features a class-leading interior with seven individual seats. The rear row can be folded down or fully removed and the front passenger’s seat also folds flat for added practicality.

Peugeot’s i-Cockpit® technology features a compact, multi-function steering wheel, 12.3-inch head-up instrument panel screen and centrally-mounted 8.0-inch touchscreen with Mirrorscreen® to help drivers stay safe on the road. Its driver assistance technology includes autonomous emergency braking and Active Blind Spot Detection.

The 2019 victory is the second consecutive year in which the 5008 SUV has scooped the hotly-contested ‘Large SUV of the Year’ title in the What Car? awards, beating-out a strong field of contenders which included Audi’s Q5 and Mazda’s CX-5.

Which Car? editor Steve Huntingford said the Peugeot 5008 SUV matches the quality and technology found in much more expensive SUVs yet is cheaper to run, more practical and just as stylish.

“It deserves to be the go-to choice for larger families,” Mr Huntingford said.

Describing 5008 SUV’s latest win, Peugeot UK Managing Director, David Peel, said the What Car? awards are among the toughest and most prestigious accolades to win.

“To scoop the Large SUV of the Year award once was already a fantastic achievement but to do so twice is even better,” Mr Peel said.

“The 5008 SUV offers drivers a whole new perspective on interior design and space, with its innovative i-Cockpit® technology. We’d like to thank the What Car? team for the award,” he added.

Peugeot’s 5008 SUV has won seven international awards since launching in 2018.
