This is Australia's first light car to bring you Toyota's Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.)TM as standard in the YRX and ZR hatch models. Interiors are striking, attention to detail is second to none and you'll and more storage than you'd think possible in a car this size.
Yaris' looks match its brains with European lines setting it apart from light car sameness. It's also exceptionally strong. And as for safety, Yaris hatch has you covered with seven SRS airbags just for starters.
Cruise control1 is great when you're out of the city and so is the fact that Yaris' chassis and suspension has been speciacally tuned for Australian conditions. And no matter where you go, you'll never be far away with an audio/communication system linking you to your friends, phone and music through simple voice commands on your new Yaris hatch.
As for fuel consumption, the new Yaris hatch delivers figures of as low as 5.7L/100km2 based on a combination of highway and urban driving. That's a 5% improvement over the previous hatch model.
Design
Yaris is a very clever car. It's designed to be big inside, small outside, fun to drive, cool to look at, easy to park and nippy round town. Yet it's comfortable and powerful enough, to head out on the highway for kilometre after kilometre.
Safety
We take car safety very seriously at Toyota and we set ourselves the very highest standards. As a result we have equipped Yaris with a wide range of advanced safety technologies and innovations.
Intelligent braking for real stopping power.
All Yaris grades have intelligent Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i), a computerised system, which makes braking safer. This includes:
- Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) to keep you heading in your intended direction if you ever have to brake hard on a slippery surface.
- Brake Assist (BA) to provide extra braking pressure when the car senses that you're braking in an emergency.
- Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) to direct braking force to the wheels with the most traction when braking on uneven or partially slippery surfaces.
Staying on track with Stability technology.
Another safety feature you'll find on all Yaris models is Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC). VSC helps prevent skidding on corners and is particularly useful on wet or slippery surfaces, helping to make sure Yaris goes where you aim it.
TRC helps minimise wheel spin when setting off or accelerating on slippery surfaces, which is particularly handy for steep hill starts in the rain.
High strength steel and impact absorbing structure means safety's built-in.
There's a whole range of clever safety features built into Yaris hatch. In fact, even the way it is built helps to make it safer.
Several strategically placed high-strength steel sheets help protect driver and passengers in a collision. While the front and sides of the car are designed to absorb and deflect crash energy.
Bags of SRS Airbags
Every Yaris comes equipped with up to 7 SRS airbags to reduce the risk of serious injury to everyone in the car. There are also clever front seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters, which provide added protection in front on accidents.
Reducing Whiplash
In new Yaris hatch, specially designed Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) seats have been fitted in the front to offer a more comfortable ride and to minimise any whiplash effect in an accident.
