Modern styling and aerodynamic design give Prius c a bold, fluid shape. Set off by rounded aero-efficient corners, front fog lamps, a rear spoiler, UV cut glass windows. Prius c i-Tech® model also features 15" alloy wheels, privacy glass and auto-leveling LED headlamps with washer.

Prius c's sportiness is anything but superficial. This is a car that delivers impressive acceleration and performance, with a satisfying agile response when you need it most.

Prius c is the result of years of advanced, thoughtful design and styling.

Colours

Prius c

When designing Prius c, our designers paid a great deal of attention to the look of the car. Everything has been carefully considered to ensure that the car really looks the part - a sporty looking, compact hatch that's street smart, nippy and fun to drive.

All of our metallic paints are designed to be durable and lasting - and will show minimal wear over time even in extreme conditions. So Prius c won't just look great when you buy it, it'll go on looking great for a long, long time.

Wheel Design

From the outside, one of the first things you'll notice about Prius c is its compact, sporty style. Prius c features 15-inch steel wheels and Prius c i-Tech® features 8 spoke 15-inch alloy wheels. Each model comes with a full sized spare. The wheel design is anything but superficial. The smooth sides of the spokes reduce drag and help increase fuel efficiency. Put all this together and you get comfort, agility and high performance traction in a sporty-looking, smart, urban car.

Interior

Prius c interior

Prius c is cleverly designed to create the maximum amount of interior space. Thanks to the shape of the steering wheel and wide doors with good head clearance, the car is easy to get in and out of in spite of the low sporty driving position. The front seats are contoured and sculpted and are mechanically adjustable. The driver has 6-way adjustment (Recline, Slide, Height). The passenger has 4-way (recline, slide). Both have height-adjustable headrests.

Thanks to contoured front seats and a compact engine compartment, there’s plenty of room for you to fit up to four friends - and 60:40 split fold rear seats mean you can quickly create more space for extra gear or luggage - ideal for weekends away. There are also small storage spaces under the boot floor on either side of the full sized spare wheel. For a compact car, Prius c offers a lot more space for people, luggage and storage than you’d expect.

Easy to Read Instruments and Controls

New Prius c features a modern, stylish dashboard design, shaped to emphasise the spaciousness of the car and provide you with clear sight and easy access to instruments and controls.

Touch Tracer Technology

Touch Tracer Technology

The steering wheel controls include clever Touch Tracer Technology. As you hover over each premium soft button, the Multi-Information Display instantly displays the relevant feature, ready for you to adjust it. Everything has been logically laid out exactly where you want it.

A comprehensive, full colour 3.5” Multi-Information Display (MID) provides all the information you need about the car’s operating status – valuable data that can help you drive more efficiently including:

The steering wheel is shaped to provide clear visibility of the instrument panel, while controls on the steering wheel allow you to adjust many operations, such as audio, air conditioning temperature, cruise control, and the trip computer in the MID. So you can keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel, just where they should be.

Automatic Air Conditioning

Automatic climate control air conditioning in Prius c has been designed to provide the best possible combination of comfort and fuel efficiency. Keeping you cool or warm, while using the minimum amount of power possible.

Fuel Saving Design

The refrigerant route has been optimised, to reduce pressure loss and increase efficiency. The blower is highly efficient and reduces power consumption. When Prius c is set to 'ECO' drive mode, the system automatically optimises air conditioning to minimise power consumption. All these features help to reduce the power requirements and therefore reduce fuel.

Pollen and Dust Filter

Prius c's air conditioning system also filters out pollen, dust and other particles from the outside air.

Steering Wheel Temperature Control

Controls are simple and logically grouped together, conveniently placed within easy reach of the driver and passenger. Air conditioning temperature can also be adjusted from the steering wheel.

Smart Entry

Prius c’s Smart Entry is convenience at your fingertips. Smart Entry system allows you to lock or unlock the door, without ever taking the key out of your pocket. You simply need to have it with you. Smart Entry is very convenient if you’re carrying bags, shopping, or dealing with an infant, especially if it’s raining. The system knows when you want to enter your vehicle. The system picks up the radio transmission from your key fob when it's close by. As soon as you grip the door handle or the rear hatch release, it authorises the locks to open. It works even if the key is in your pocket or in a bag. It’s also smart enough to know if you’ve left the key in the car and the system won’t let you lock the door unless the key is outside the car with you.

Smart Start

Smart Start also enables you to start the car, without ever using the key. You simply need to have it with you. As long as the key is in the car with you, you only need to press the brake pedal and push the Start button to start or stop the engine. Smart Entry and Smart Start is just another convenient feature in the compact Prius c.

Handy Storage Places

For a compact car, Prius c has a wide variety of convenient, well-placed storage spaces for the sort of things you need to take with you when you drive - sunglasses, maps, keys, drinks and so on. In the cabin, the driver has plenty of storage including door pockets large enough to hold a bottle or an A4 folder. There's a front tray in the centre console and 2 cup holders near the gearshift.

USB^ and AUX jack^ inputs

Prius c features a generous glove box with a 7-litre capacity and on the passenger side, there’s an open tray with a convenient USB^ port and an AUX input jack^ where selected devices, such as iPods®+ and MP3 players^, can be conveniently placed and played. There is also storage space in the centre armrest and a large beverage holder.

There are also small storage spaces on either side of the full sized spare wheel under the boot floor.

The variety and location of storage spaces in the Prius c means that whatever you need to carry with you when you drive, there’s always a convenient place to stash it till you need it.

Rear 60:40 Seat Split

Prius c rear seats

Prius c’s seats are designed for maximum convenience and comfort. They are also very space-efficient. In the back there is a convenient 60:40 split fold rear seat.

With the seats upright, the rear takes three people and all rear passengers have their own height-adjustable headrest. With the back of both seats down, there is plenty of room for shopping, luggage, sports gear and anything else you need to carry.

When the smaller of the 60:40 split is down, you can still seat two people in the rear, as well as creating generous extra luggage space. The front seat's ergonomical slim-line design provides plenty of legroom in the back for ultimate passenger comfort.

Audio and Navigation

For a small car, Prius c is big on fun and style. The audio system is packed with sophisticated features. Both models have a 6.1 inch touch screen audio which delivers exceptionally clear sound through a powerful wrap around speaker system. Your ears will love the experience. The audio system displays artist and track details when you play music from FM stations***, and with 'split-screen' functionality, you can control more than one thing at a time.

There are also audio controls mounted on the steering wheel and in addition, both Prius c models have Voice Control technology. So when you want to change tracks or make a hands-free call, the car will respond to a range of vocal commands. Simply press the voice control button and Prius c will do what you tell it to.

Genuine Bluetooth

All Prius c come with wireless Bluetooth™## connectivity. You simply pair your Bluetooth™## enabled compatible phone or device with the audio system - an easy process that takes just a few minutes - and you then have access to a whole range of Bluetooth™## enabled mobile phone features.

These include the ability to make and receive hands-free mobile calls over the audio system. So you can stay in touch with friends and business, just talk normally to them as if they're in the car with you, wherever you go. Once your mobile is registered with the audio system, it will automatically recognise it from then on. In the Prius c, Bluetooth™## provides wireless access to your mobile's phone book. Prius i-Tech® features the Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.)™ system that allows you to have access to mobile text messages.

Bluetooth™## for your ears

And with Bluetooth™## audio streaming throughout the Prius c range, you can listen to music stored on your phone and many other selected devices with Bluetooth™## connectivity.

Have USB stick, will travel

Driving enjoyment and music are inextricably linked. We all have our favourite driving tracks - something to go with winding country roads, something for long motorway journeys, and something for zipping around town. Whatever your choice, it's always something that makes the drive better. That's why we take care to ensure that the audio systems we put in the Prius c don't just produce great sound. They produce great sound from different kinds of input devices.

Prius c features a USB^ input so if you have music stored on a USB^ memory stick, you can take it with you wherever you go.

Don't forget the popcorn

In the Prius i-Tech® the Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.)™ is even more advanced. It has DivX™~~~ compatibility so the system will read media files from your USB^ memory stick and display them on the 6.1 inch touch screen. So whether it's a long trip and you fancy a break, or you have specifically chosen a spot for your own drive-in movie venue, new Prius c will do its best to keep you entertained.

Satellite Navigation++ with 3D graphics and traffic avoidance system

The Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.™) system in Prius i-Tech® models, includes Satellite Navigation++ with 3D graphics. The 3D graphics show major buildings and local landmarks in excellent detail, giving you a really clear idea of what things actually look like and helping you to avoid becoming disoriented when driving towns and cities you don’t know. The 6.1 inch touch screen displays information in an easy to follow split screen format, making it easy to plan lane changes on busy motorways and providing useful driving data such as length of journey and estimated arrival time. The split screen function also means you can control audio devices and hands-free mobile calls while still being able to view Satellite Navigation++ details.

Working in tandem with Satellite Navigation++ , a traffic avoidance system (SUNA™ Traffic Channel[T]), provides up to the minute, detailed information about road conditions – roadworks, traffic jams, broken traffic lights and so on. This helps Satellite Navigation++ work out the best route to avoid congestion. It advises you with live updates about any delays en route and also alerts you when conditions change - if there's an accident ahead, for instance.

Prius i-Tech® Satellite Navigation++ makes finding your way round and avoiding hold ups, easier than ever. Which helps to take the stress out of long journeys and ensures you get where you're going with the minimum of fuss.

Get personal with an SD Card slot

In the Prius i-Tech® grade, the Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.)™ system features an SD Card slot. You can use this to view digital photographs on the 6.1 inch touch screen display. You can also upload your pictures to personalise the system.

Performance

Everything about Prius c has been designed with efficiency in mind – from ground-breaking technology that provides ongoing feedback which helps you actively improve the way you drive, to its Hybrid Synergy Drive® technology, a smart combination of a responsive electric motor, and a 1.5L Atkinson Cycle petrol engine. Powerful enough and comfortable enough for the open road, Prius c comes into its own around town.

Exceptional Economy Around Town

Prius c offers incredible fuel economy in general with 3.9 Litres/100km‡(Combined) but on the urban cycle, it excels with – 3.7 Litres/100km‡. Depending on the driving situation – accelerating, braking, cruising, stop start traffic and so on, the hybrid system automatically balances the output from petrol, engine and electric motor to deliver the necessary power as efficiently as possible while achieving maximum economy and minimising emissions.‡

Low CO2 Emissions‡

Both the petrol engine and the electric motor can drive the car independently of each other. And at low speeds, such as in stop start traffic the electric motor can power the car on its own, lowering CO2 emissions‡ to zero. When you accelerate the petrol engine seamlessly kicks back in to provide more power.

Driving Modes

As well as normal drive mode, Prius c can be switched to ‘EV’ mode (Electric Vehicle) for short distances. In this mode, the car is powered by the electric motor alone reducing noise and cutting out engine emissions completely.

This mode is particularly useful to reduce noise in residential areas when returning home late at night or to cut emissions in enclosed parking areas. For maximum economy, Prius c can be switched to ‘ECO’ mode. In this mode, Prius c automatically manages fuel usage inputs and optimises the air conditioning system to maximise fuel efficiency‡.

Powerful Hybrid System

Prius c

In Prius c, Toyota’s world leading Hybrid Synergy Drive® technology (HSD) teams a petrol engine and an advanced electric motor in parallel. This enables the two power units to drive the car either together as a team or separately as individuals. Not all hybrid systems can do this.

So at low speeds, the electric motor can power the car on its own, lowering CO2 emissions‡ to zero. But step on the accelerator and the petrol engine kicks seamlessly back in to give you all the acceleration you need.

The hybrid system continuously monitors driving circumstances and responds instantly to your needs – whether you’re accelerating, braking, cruising on the highway or driving in stop start traffic – and manages the balance of power from petrol engine and electric motor. It seamlessly adjusts the output from each power source to optimise performance while maximising fuel efficiency and minimizing CO2 emissions.‡

The hybrid battery receives all the charge it needs from normal driving and from reclaiming energy through regenerative braking or deceleration that would normally be wasted. So it never needs to be plugged in.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Automatic

Prius c doesn’t use a conventional gearbox. Instead it transmits power to the wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

CVT is a highly efficient delivery system, which ensures that power isn’t wasted in up or down shifts and while delivering excellent performance, it also helps to create a smoother, more comfortable drive.

This drivetrain removes the need for gear changes so there are no jerks or pauses during acceleration, which means your foot on the accelerator produces a smooth, yet highly responsive, dynamic response.

CVT has infinite gear ratios available and depending on what the driver needs at the time, the system makes continuous, seamless adjustments so that the ideal gear ratio is used at all times.

‘ECO’ and ‘EV’ Drive modes

Prius c Drive Modes

Prius c puts you in control with the ability to rapidly switch driving modes depending on your needs. As well as normal driving, Prius c offers a choice of two further drive modes. These can be accessed by a Drive Mode switch located conveniently near the gear shift.

‘ECO’ Drive Mode

Switch to ‘ECO’ Drive mode and the car will automatically manage fuel inputs and optimise the air conditioning system for maximum fuel efficiency.

‘EV’ Drive Mode

At low speeds, the car can be switched to ‘EV’ mode (Electric Vehicle) for short distances. In this mode, the car runs on the electric motor alone – useful to reduce noise late at night in built up residential areas or to cut emissions when parking in a small garage or an underground car park.

Safety

When you’re zipping about town, Prius c also helps keep you safe, with a sophisticated passive safety system – including seven SRS air bags and a front and side collision structure – as well as active safety features like Vehicle Stability Control , Traction Control, Anti-skid Braking System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and more.

Safety by Design

Prius c is designed with Whiplash Injury Lessening seats for the driver and front passenger and employs a Minimum Intrusion Cabin System where the car’s structure is designed to absorb impact and disperse its energy during an accident.

High-Tensile Steel and Safe-T-Cell structure

High-tensile steel gives the car maximum strength with minimum weight. While in the event of a front-end collision, Toyota’s Safe-T-Cell structure is designed to disperse the impact energy away from passengers through the upper and side members to the side doors and peripheral framework of the floor.

In a side collision, the impact is designed to be dispersed away from the passengers to the front floor cross member.

Energy-Absorbing Materials

Energy-absorbing materials inside the door trims also help absorb crash energy from side impacts and there are additional energy-absorbing materials to protect chest and hip areas, while the roof structure is designed to help protect the head area of all occupants.

Seven SRS Airbags

As always, Toyota takes car safety very seriously and Prius c comes with seven SRS airbags including a driver’s knee airbag.

The side air bags have dual chambers, each section cushioning the chest and hip region and each chamber at a different pressure to better assist during an impact incident.

A curtain shield airbag is also installed in the roof side rail along the entire interior lenght on each side of the car. In the event of a side-on collision, curtain shield airbags assist is providing protection for all occupants.

While Prius c is always fun to drive, it's also a very safe car to be in.
