New Toyota Landcruiser 70 Series

Australia is renowned for its harsh rugged terrain and its unforgiving treatment to those who think they can tame it.

The LandCruiser legend was born in 1951 and since then has slowly grown to be the uncontested leader in the Heavy 4WD market around the world. Its heritage of durability and reliability has continued throughout the generations providing owners with the security that the job will get done.

The LandCruiser 78/79 models have undergone a face-lift and these vehicles are now part of the LandCruiser 70 range. The changes encompass several features that only serve to enhance its presence and appeal within an already loyal customer base. Some of the key features introduced include:

• An all New V8 Turbo Diesel engine to comply with Euro 4 emission standards
• New frontal design changes associated with the introduction of the new engine
• Minor specification changes with the grades
• Most importantly the introduction of a 4-door Wagon to the range

Whilst this generation LandCruiser is adopting more of the comfort features of the SUV range, but with Toyota’s philosophy of Kaizen, continuous improvement, the technology and engine management systems introduced into this LandCruiser 70 Series will provide you with More Power, More Torque and increased Fuel Efficiency, which is far in excess of any of its competitors.

Once again, these vehicles illustrate the uncompromising nature of the LandCruiser 70 Range.

Power and Performance are key, everything else is secondary.

Key Changes

• Adoption of 4.5 litre V8 diesel with common-rail type fuel injection, variable vane type turbocharger and intercooler.
• Maximum power is rated above 150kW and maximum torque is above 400Nm.
• Completely redesigned frontal area up to ‘A’ pillar – includes new bonnet, new front fenders, new headlights,
  grille and bumper
• Level 2 vehicles (GXL grade) gain front fog lamps
• All vehicles gain engine immobiliser for improved security
• All vehicles gain single CD player audio unit with MP3 CD capability, replacing previous cassette unit
• The introduction of a 4-door Wagon vehicle to the model line-up
• More torque than the current LandCruiser 70 series
• Improved levels of fuel efficiency
• Optional multi seating configuration
• 2 Grade line-up with Workmate and GXL
  (GXL includes alloy wheels, fog lamps, chrome pack, keyless entry, power windows, cloth trim and overfender flares)

Engine

The 1VD-FTV engine which powers the LandCruiser 70 Series vehicles has been developed as Toyota’s first V8 diesel engine.

This engine with its advanced technical development provides improved fuel efficiency.

Lower emissions which comply with Euro IV regulations and reduction of noise has also been achieved.

Engine Intercooler and Piping

The 1VD-FTV engine has a single turbocharger with an air to air intercooler located above the engine to enhance output and exhaust performance.

The intercooler is fed air via the bonnet scoop sculptured into the bonnet.

Transmission

The H150F 5-speed manual transmission has been retained for the facelift LandCruiser 70 series. This transmission has been modified for use with the new 1VD-FTV engine.

Suspension

The facelift LandCruiser 70 series retains the existing suspension setup found on the current LC78/79. However, minor enhancements have been made to the suspension improving durability, frontal rigidity and drivability, whilst adding comfort for wagon buyers.
