Interior
Luxurious seating
Whether it's a long family driving holiday, shuttle duty for part of the under 14s soccer team, or a weekend of skiing, it's nice to know you'll be travelling in comfort. Boasting sports style front seats with adjustable inboard armrests, fully adjustable front and 2nd row seats, forward-facing 3rd row, front-seat "walk-thru" access, and ample leg, head, and elbow room, the Avensis delivers superior comfort for all occupants.
Whisper-quiet ride
Thanks to an enhanced suspension system, you'll enjoy a luxuriously quiet ride. It features excellent damping force response at extremely low piston speed, allowing for better control and minimising wasted movement of the shock springs, and delivering remarkable ride smoothness and comfort.
Versatile storage space
Family, fun, or fitness, the Avensis has more than enough storage space to suit. The 2nd row seats split 60:40 and can be folded forward, together, or separately, while the 3rd row seats split 50:50 and can be folded flat. A unique underfloor compartment behind the 3rd row seats is large enough to hold a set of golf clubs (132L capacity), giving you ample storage space even with all three rows of seats in use. Integrated load tie-downs in the 2nd and 3rd rows secure cargo when you're on the move, and a rear cargo cover conceals it when you're not.

Standard features include automatic climate control air conditioning with overhead directional vents in the 2nd and 3rd row seating area, cruise control, six-speaker audio system with radio and single MP3-compatible CD (6 disc in-dash CD changer on Ultima), power mirrors, power driver's window with anti-jam function, tilt adjustable power steering, tinted privacy glass in the rear and back windows, central locking and keyless entry, integrated engine immobiliser, six cup holders, and four 1.25 litre bottle holders.

Safety

Driver and front passenger SRS airbags
Every Avensis is fitted with driver and front passenger two-stage Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags for added protection in the unfortunate event of an accident. What's more, the Ultima also features front seat mounted side airbags for even more comprehensive safety.
ABS with BA and EBD
When it comes to safety, the Avensis is tireless. That's why ABS brakes are standard on every model. ABS brakes prevent the wheels from locking up and sliding under heavy braking. Wheel lockup is a major cause of accidents because steering control is lost once the front wheels skid. Avensis's ABS braking system also features Brake Assist (BA) which helps you apply optimum braking force during an emergency, and Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) which dynamically distributes braking force based on vehicle load.
Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) body
Built around a unique Safe-T-Cell, the Toyota Avensis gives your whole team the protection they deserve. Safe-T-Cell is an energy absorbing structure, designed to help reduce impact upon the cabin, providing occupants with increased protection. Designed, tested, and manufactured to meet Toyota's stringent Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) guidelines, Safe-T-Cell incorporates side door anti-intrusion beams, reinforced beams in the floor and roof, a protective cradle for the engine, and a steel cross member behind the dashboard, a head impact protection system with energy-absorbing materials in the roof-side pillar trim structures, crumple-zones at both the rear and front of the vehicle, collapsible steering column, and retractable brake pedal.
Pre-tensioning, force-limiting seatbelts
Thanks to Toyota's exacting safety standards, both driver and front passenger are protected by pretensioning, forcelimiting seatbelts. Similarly, the 2nd and 3rd row outboard seats are fitted with 3-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seatbelts. And for comprehensive child seat/capsule retention, the 2nd row outboard seatbelts incorporate Automatic Locking Retractors (ALR), as well as three child restraint anchorage points on the back of the seats.

Powerful 2.4L twin cam VVT-i engine
City, highway, or mountain road, the powerful 2.4L twin cam, 4 valve VVT-i engine has the power to really move. And you will be moved... It delivers 118kW of power and 221Nm of torque, so there's no compromise.
Handling stability
The Avensis' sleek body styling isn't just for looks. It's part of a comprehensive high-stability design which incorporates aerodynamics, long wheelbase, low height, and wide body combined with the latest MacPherson strut front suspension system and a trailing torsion beam semi-independent rear suspension. Tailored to the needs of the fast-paced family, this design delivers natural sure-footedness, low road noise levels, and superior ride comfort.
Excellent fuel economy
When there's always somewhere to go, you need a fuel-efficient vehicle. And the Avensis is exactly that. With its super throttle converter and a flexible up-stroke system, it consumes a meagre 9.2L / 100km*.
