Toyota Kluger Power and Performance

2007 Toyota Kluger EngineWith a technilogically advanced 3.5 litre, all-alloy quad cam V6 engine capable of producing around 200kW and an intelligent automatic transmission, the New Kluger is not only highly responsive, but responsible.

With Toyota's Dual VVT-i technology, it allows the driver to have the best of all worlds - delivering impressive power, surprising economy and the environmental benefit of meeting strict Euro IV emission standards. You have the choice and flexibility of 2WD, or AWD drive-train so the New Kluger from Toyota will suit any lifestyle and be ready for anything.

Steering - Next Generation Kluger has column type Electric Power Steering (EPS) which is speed sensitive, thereby providing a light steering feel at low speeds and a more weighted, solid feel at higher speeds. The EPS uses electricity to provide steering assistance only when needed, thus enhancing fuel economy. Unlike hydraulic power steering, EPS does not require the use of oil and thus provides an environmental benefit. The steering column has manual tilt and telescopic function to allow the steering wheel to be adjusted to optimise the driving position.

The L1 grade have a 4-spoke urethane steering wheel with controls for the audio system and multi-information display. L2 grades have a 4-spoke leather bound steering wheel with air conditioning control switches, in addition to the controls available on L2 . L3 grades have the same steering wheel as L2 grades, with the addition of telephone and navigation system voice recognition controls.

Tyre & Wheels - L1 grades are fitted with 17 inch alloy wheels with 245/65R17 tyres, while L2 and L3 grades are fitted with 19 inch alloy wheels and 245/55R19 tyres.

Toyota Kluger Safety

Active Safety - A first for the Toyota Kluger is the addition of Toyota's advanced Vehicle Control Management System (VCMS) to help you cope with life's unexpected twists and turns. VCMS acts like a central nervous system and serves as a link between the various traction enhancing technologies such as Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) and Electric Power Steering (EPS) so it ensures these systems work together in emergency situations for enhanced control.

All Next Generation Kluger models have a VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) integrated control system which coordinates ABS (Anti-skid Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), BA (Brake Assist), TRC (Traction Control) and EPS (Electric Power Steering)

This integrated system, termed the Vehicle Control Management System (VCMS), enhances driving, turning and stopping performance. It also supplements conventional ABS with assist torque and helps offset left-right vehicle pull by allowing the driver to compensate more easily for differences in left-right braking force.

2007 Toyota Kluger RearDriver Assist Technologies (DAT) including Traction Control (TRC), Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) have also been thoughtfully incorporated in the Next Generation Toyota Kluger, so you are assured a premium level of safety and driveability.

Unexpected circumstances or external factors can cause significant oversteer or understeer when cornering. To ensure vehicle stability in these situations, engine output and distribution of braking force to each wheel are automatically regulated in order to moderate oversteer and understeer. In addition, VCMS simultaneously provides power steering assist torque to communicate the performance limits of the vehicle to the driver and helps to steer in the direction that provides optimum stability.

Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) is available on all models. HAC helps ensure smooth hill starts by applying brake pressure to all four wheels for approximately two seconds in order to hold the vehicle and prevent rollback when starting on a steep or slippery incline.

Downhill Assist Control (DAC) is available on all AWD models. DAC assists the driver during steep descents by automatically controlling hydraulic pressure of all four brakes to maintain a constant low speed without locking the wheels. This provides stability, reduces vehicle vibration, and also allows the driver to concentrate on steering the vehicle.

Air Bags - Safety was at the forefront of Toyota designers' minds when it comes to keeping you and your family safe. A segment-leading 7 SRS Air Bags come as standard just in case you do get into trouble. Included are front and seat-mounted side air bags for driver and front passenger safety, a front driver knee air bag and a full length side curtain shield air bag on either side of the vehicle for all three rows of seats

Toyota Kluger AB-i - An impressive braking package assists in the most challenging conditions. Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i) incorporates Anti-skid Braking Systems (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and this ensures the Next Generation Toyota Kluger is help you in the most challenging conditions.

Toyota Kluger Rear Reversing Camera - A Rear Reversing Camera is also available and this will help put your mind at ease as safety is never an option when it comes to young children.

Toyota Kluger Space

2007 Toyota Kluger InteriorCrisp handling comes in a remarkably roomy package. Keyless entry opens the way to a 5 seat or 7 seat cabin that's loaded with smart thinking. Versatility means the 2nd row seats slide back for more leg room and forward for more cargo room, so who says passengers have to take a back seat to comfort?

Next Generation Kluger's overall dimensions have been increased, achieving the ideal body size for a Medium SUV. The interior length and width has increased giving a more spacious feel to the cabin. Couple distance between the front seats and second row seats, and between the second and third row seats, has also been increased. The lengthened cargo area and additional storage area in the floor beneath the third row seats allow for an expansive flat deck space. Interior height has been increased to enhance seating posture, along with the distance from floor to hip-point for the second and third row seats. The angle of the steering column has been adjusted and a tilt and telescopic function adopted, enabling a driving position that suits a wide range of drivers. Overall... you'll love the room in the new Toyota Kluger

Toyota Kluger Comfort

Air Conditioning - Next Generation Kluger has a small, lightweight and power-efficient system which combines a significant increase in cooling performance with low fuel consumption. L1 5 seat grades have manual front air conditioning only, while L1 7 seat grades add manual rear air conditioning. L2 and L3 grades have front dual zone climate control air conditioning as well as rear climate control air conditioning, using temperature sensors positioned in the front and rear of the vehicle to create 3 zones of temperature control. Where front climate control air conditioning is available, the 3.5-inch multi-information display is used for the front seat air conditioning display screen.

Audio - All Next Generation Kluger models have a 6-speaker audio system. L1 grades have an AM/FM radio with an MP3-compatible single CD player, while L2 grades have an AM/FM radio with an MP3-compatible 6 CD changer. Both systems are security coded with a maximum power output of 40W x 4, and feature an audio input jack which enables the connection of portable music devices (such as MP3 players), which can then be heard through the vehicle's speaker system.

L3 grades have a 4 CD changer integrated with AVN Satellite Navigation. On L2 and L3 grades, the audio unit also features Bluetooth* phone compatibility. With this feature, hands-free mobile phone communication can be managed through the Bluetooth link in the audio unit. When a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone is registered on the system, phone calls can be made and received hands-free via buttons on the audio, while the mobile phone remains in your pocket or handbag.

* Bluetooth compatible with the following standards:
HFP (Hands Free Profile) version 1.0
OPP (Object Push Profile) version 1.1 (L3 grade only)

Tailgate - All Next Generation Kluger models have a glass hatch in the tailgate, enabling luggage to be loaded and unloaded easily without opening the tailgate. L3 grades have a powered tailgate open/close function.

All models have a retractable tonneau cover to cover the luggage space and conceal cargo. To enable ease of luggage loading from the glass hatch, the tonneau cover can be locked into place in the half-open position. The tonneau cover can be stored in a dedicated space under the deck when not in use. The rear deckboard can be used as a luggage partition by standing it on one end.

Smart Entry & Display System

L3 grades have a smart entry & start system where the vehicle can be locked or unlocked and the engine can be started simply by carrying the key (e.g. in a pocket or handbag) without pressing the key/transmitter button.

The system detects the key when it is within proximity of the vehicle and enables:

  • All doors to be unlocked by touching the inside of the driver's door handle
  • All doors to be locked by pressing the lock switch on the driver's door handle
  • The tailgate to be opened by standing in front of the tailgate and pressing the tailgate unlock button
  • The glass hatch in the tailgate to be opened by standing in front of the tailgate and pressing the glass hatch button

When the system detects that the key is inside the vehicle, push button start enables the engine to be started by pressing the engine switch whilst depressing the brake pedal with the gear shift lever in P or N position.

Multi-Information Display - All Next Generation Kluger models have a multi-information display (MID) which is shown on a 3.5 inch colour screen. The MID shows the view from the reversing camera, trip computer information, and on L2 and L3 grades, air conditioning display.

Toyota Kluger Styling

2007 Toyota kluger FrontOn the outside, sculpted clean, crisp lines, a wide, stable stance and muscular contours give the New Toyota Kluger an advanced, contemporary, forceful and dynamic personality.

Front Design - The area around the fender flares has been given a three-dimensional construction to evoke the classic feel of power and sturdiness of an SUV.

Side Design - The surfaces around the wheels are given a firm feel which, combined with the character line running along the rocker panel, expresses a powerful lower body. The shoulder area accentuates the body with an S-shaped profile, which provides a contrasting three-dimensional feel.

Rear Design - The rear fenders emphasise the power and sturdiness of the vehicle which, combined with the wide track width, gives the vehicle a classic, solid SUV stance. The turn signal lamps have an innovative design, where its three-dimensional form gives the inner moulding a feel of depth.

Design intelligence is carried through to the refined interior, where smart and sophisticated blend with practical, flexible and versatile.

Interior Design - With a soft, fluid design and spacious interior, as well as the added appeal and solidity of an SUV, this is a forward thinking design with flexible seating arrangements, interior space and storage capabilities.

To express the dynamics of the interior width, the layout is based on a fluid design spanning out to both sides from a central focus point. To emphasise the power and flow of the console, the centre part has been given an elevated design. The front seats combine side support with a comfortable shoulder area and the seatbacks are trimmed down as far as possible to ensure rear seat space.

Instrument Panel - Larger switches and knobs, and large, easily recognisable switches have been adopted. All are conveniently located with good visibility and operability. Chrome plating is adopted for the meter rings, openings of the front console cup holders and air conditioning knobs and register levers reflect the quality and sophistication. The seam of the front passenger SRS airbag compartment is no longer visible. L1 and L2 grades have a silver finish for the centre console and upper console area, while on the L3 grade models this area has a woodgrain finish.

Seats - The front seat cushion length, seatback width and height have been increased for enhanced seating comfort. On L2 and L3 grades, the driver and front passenger seats have power seat adjustment, and the driver's seat also has variable seat length adjustment.

The second row seat has an innovative design where the centre seat can be removed to facilitate either a 3-person bench seat or 2 individual captain-style seats. The cushion width, length and seatback height of the outer seats have been increased to enhance seating comfort. Armrests are fitted to the interior side of the outer seats, to be used for the captain-style seats. When not in use, the removable centre seat can be stored in a dedicated space underneath the rear console.

A third row seat is optional on L1 grade vehicles and standard on L2 and L3 grades. The third row seat is a 2-person bench seat that folds flat simply with the pull of a lever. The seat cushion and seatback widths, along with the seatback height, have been substantially increased for enhanced seating comfort. The headrests fold forward with the pull of a strap for easy storage.

To provide an enlarged walk-in space for entering and exiting the third row seat on 7 seat models, the slide range of the second row seat has been increased. In addition to the tilt down lever and recline lever, there is a walk-in lever located on the left hand side of the second row seat.

L2 and L3 grades have a one-touch, remote release fold flat function for the second row seat. With the pull of a lever, the second row seat can be folded flat to the height of the deck, creating a large, flat deck space.

Available in three different grades, the New Toyota Kluger will offer a range of appointments from the luxurious to the sporty to suit the Next Generation family.
