Years of competing in the World Rally Championship have gone into ensuring the Tribeca has the same handling, stability and control of much smaller cars.

The renowned handling and balance of all Subaru vehicles, are just as obvious within the Tribeca. This is due to Subaru's unique combination of constant All Wheel Drive and symmetrical drivetrain. This advanced drivetrain design puts the engine, transmission, propeller shaft and rear differential area in a perfectly symmetrical straight line, giving the car far greater balance and control.

At the heart of the Tribeca lies the legendary Subaru Boxer engine. With a compact design and lightweight materials, it sits lower and lighter in the vehicle. For you, this low centre of gravity translates into enhanced stability and handling, and a much safer drive.

The Tribeca's electronic 5-speed automatic transmission puts you firmly in control. With optimum traction delivered to according to road surface and cornering, you'll enjoy sporty; yet safe driving, no matter where you are. From the strengthened centre pillar to the minimisation of blind spots, every length has been taken in the Tribeca to protect both passengers and other road users. The passenger compartment is wrapped in a protective six-ring safety cell that absorbs the energy of an impact. There's also special energy absorbing zones in the side panels as well as six front, side and curtain air bags.

The Tribeca has been enhanced with a range of technologies designed to help keep you out of harm's way. An advanced Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), specially tuned for Australian road conditions, uses sensors on each wheel to monitor wheel speed, while Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) improves rear wheel braking response. And of course, our trademark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and lower centre of gravity also add the nimbleness needed to help you avoid danger.

VDC, Vehicle Dynamics Control, is an advanced system that helps maintain vehicle stability by stabilising and correcting understeer and oversteer. VDC complements the Subaru All-Wheel Drive system by helping to vary the torque/drive between the front and rear axles. It also decreases engine power or applies the brakes individually or as groups to enhance stability.
