The new Subaru Forester is the largest, widest and most spacious Forester yet. The ergonomically designed interior provides greater versatility and ensures that there is more storage and leg room throughout. Clever and versatile center consoles give you greater flexibility allowing you to plug, charge and play anything from an iPod* to a laptop. The interior, instrumentation and storage areas are bathed in cool blue illumination creating a subtle night lighting helping you locate storage items. The Forester XS and XT models also come standard with an illuminated multifunctional rectractable rear tray with cupholders for rear passenger convenience. Standard interior features available across the new Forester range are power steering, power windows and mirrors, air-conditioning and an AM/FM/RDS radio/CD entertainment, which is MP3/WMA/iPod* compatible.

Versatility and space
The new generation Subaru Forester is more spacious and
versatile than ever before. The well designed, waist-height front
seats provide easy access, and can be folded flat, whilst the high
eye point gives you superb visibility for safer driving. The longer,
wider body provides ample leg room and the convenience of rear
reclining seats allow all rear passengers to sit comfortably. The
reclining rear seats can split 60/40, and one or both can be folded
down to create more usable space. The rear gate opens wide, and
together with a low cargo floor level, makes loading much easier.
The spacious luggage compartment is designed in the most
effective way possible and has ample space to store a wide range
of items. Leading the way in versatility, the new Forester can
cope with whatever your active lifestyle throws in the back of it.
Luggage Area
The cavernous luggage compartment is one of the Forester’s key features. It offers a wide, flat area, allowing 4 large suitcases and a variety of long items to be stowed easily. In addition, the low floor and wide opening of the rear gate all improve access to luggage and 4 cargo hooks have been installed for added convenience when shopping.

Multi-functional Centre Console1
The multi-functional centre console has been
designed to offer you and your passenger’s
greater flexibility. The console can be used for a
range of different purposes thanks to a removable
tray/pocket and movable cup holder partitions.
The console can accommodate up to 11 CDs with
space left for two cup-holders or alternatively
a large handbag or laptop computer. All within
reach and safe from prying eyes. The convenient
sliding armrest includes an auxiliary input jack and
12-volt power outlet, which is ideal for connecting
portable audio players or other devices. Another
12-volt power outlet is located in the storage bin
under the air-conditioning controls - ideal for
charging your mobile phone.
Retractable Rear Tray with Cup Holders (Forester XT & XS)
The retractable rear seat tray is
indispensable, especially if you have little
ones in the back, or like to go on long drives.
Turning over the centre seat cushion reveals
a blue LED illumination tray-table that will
hold various objects and a double cup holder.
Entertainment
Entertainment takes center stage with a surround sound system with integrated CD player and AM/FM tuner that is also P3/WMA and iPod* compatible.
The centre console box includes a stereo mini-pin jack socket so you can plug in your iPod and listen to your favourite songs. The Forester XS and XT models include a 6-stack CD changer# with outstanding sound quality. Now every trip, whether to the local shops or away for the weekend can be tuned to suit your mood. And weekend getaways are now even more accessible with touchscreen Satellite Navigation standard on the Forester XT Premium (shown on right) and optional on Forester XS Premium.

Blue Interior Illumination
The central ceiling lighting illuminates the console area in blue
while the centre tray, retractable rear tray cup holders each
include individual built-in blue lighting, creating a calm nighttime
environment.
Audio System with SRS Circle Surround Automotive3
Designed exclusively for cars incorporating SRS Circle Surround Automotive technology, this system provides a natural, crisp, lively surround sound with enhanced bass and a genuine stereophonic feel whilst being compatible with both MP3 and WMA formats. The centre of the audio system contains a large, highly visible display, which shows the artist and track name stored on the MP3, WMA or other media file. In addition, it can be controlled via the handy steering wheel mounted controls.
Touchscreen Satellite Navigation1 System with DVD
The 7” high-resolution touchscreen multifunctional entertainment system which is standard on XT premium and optional on XS premium, combines a satellite navigation system, a single CD/DVD system with an RCA jack, Bluetooth compatibility and important maintenance information in a succinct package. The system also allows passengers to enjoy DVD’s on its display with surround sound when parked. The high quality 7-speaker (includes 1 subwoofer) system incorporates Audyssey MultEQ2 which provides identical power and clarity of sound regardless of where you are located, thanks to original equalising technology with minimum distortion. The system is compatible with both MP3 and WMA formats.

Engine
The new generation Subaru Forester incorporates the performance and drivability of a sports car
with the vitality of an SUV. The world-renowned, low centre of gravity horizontally-opposed Subaru
Boxer engine combines smooth linear acceleration, precise engine response and mountains of lowto-
mid range torque for superior driving performance on the highway or off the beaten track. With
improved fuel efficiency along with the benefits of symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, this is one SUV that
really makes sense.
Active Valve Lift System (AVLS)
The AVLS varies both lift and timing of engine valve movements to improve combustion efficiency. One valve is operated by both low and high lift cams to provide the best of both low and high valve-lift characteristics producing low speed torque, fuel efficiency and high speed power output.
Subaru 2.5-litre DOHC Turbo* Boxer Engine
Producing an abundance of power and torque, the renowned
Subaru turbocharged technology in the new generation
Forester XT delivers effortless drivability of a sports car.
Maximum torque is “on tap” early thanks to the Active Valve
Control System featuring variable valve timing providing a
broad torque band for strong pulling power right through the
rev range. The 2.5-litre DOHC Turbo* Boxer engine produces an
exciting 169kW of power at 5,200rpm and maximum torque of
320Nm at a very useful 2,800rpm. The engine meets the stringent
“Euro4” emission standards.
Subaru Boxer 2.5-litre SOHC Engine
This efficient and sporty Subaru Boxer engine offers superb drivability. Delivering an impressive 126kW at 6000rpm and 229Nm at 4,400rpm with smooth, effortless performance thanks to the unique Horizontally-Opposed engine design. With improved power and improved low to mid range torque, improved fuel efficiency and meeting stringent “Euro4” emission standards, the naturally aspirated Forester makes driving a pleasure.
Performance Technology
Electronically controlled 5-speed SPORTSHIFT* automatic transmission.
Innovative Subaru transmission technology has been brilliantly designed to deliver every ounce of the Forester’s potential to the road surface. The electronically controlled, 4-speed automatic features gear lever-controlled SPORTSHIFT* that gives you the option to instantly change up or down a gear via the stick shifter, using ‘direct’ electrohydraulic control.
The intelligent SPORTSHIFT* features active torque split, which distributes torque to the front and rear wheels smoothly and quickly depending on your driving conditions and style. The five-speed manual has been meticulously engineered to complement our Horizontally-Opposed Boxer engine to provide optimum power delivery across the full range of driving conditions, leading to smooth gear changes and reduced noise, vibration and harshness.
A newly developed Subaru Intelligent Chassis and fully independent suspension system provides world-class control and stability, particularly when cornering. Light, yet strong and rigid components are used, with finely tuned suspension geometry and dynamics producing outstanding handling and consistent contact with the road. The engine mounting position has been lowered by 10mm for an even lower centre of gravity and rigidity and tread have been increased to improve stability.
McPherson strut type independent front suspension, a new double wishbone rear suspension system and powerassisted rack and pinion steering combine to provide a smooth, controlled ride with excellent road holding. The double wishbone rear suspension sits low, under the floor so it does not intrude into the spacious, rear cargo area. All links are attached to the sub frame, which ensures vibrations from the road surface are absorbed by the sub frame, resulting in reduced shocks to the vehicle itself and therefore, a more comfortable drive.
Collision Protection & Security Technology
ANCAP - 5 Star Occupant Safety Rating
Subaru has achieved the maximum five-star rating for occupant safety for every Forester in our range, from the respected and independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). To achieve this, Forester was crash-tested by ANCAP and the car minutely inspected to check the structure and potential occupant effects. The ANCAP five-star symbol is your assurance of greater protection in the event of an accident.
Advanced Thinking in Body Design
Forester has a ring-shaped reinforcement safety cell, featuring steel reinforcements, crumple zones and rigid elements that protect occupants by absorbing energy in the event of a collision, reducing the risk of occupant injury. The flat Boxer Engine’s low position also means it slides below the cabin in a severe frontal collision. The energy absorbing collapsible steering column and brake pedal helps minimise driver injury in the event of a frontal collision.
Superior Passenger Protection
Every Forester has active front seat head restraints, which minimises whiplash. In a rear end collision they instantly move forward to support the head. Front seat passenger seatbelt indicator lights mean the driver can make a simple visual check, ensuring their front occupant has belted up. All three-rear seatbelts have Automatic Emergency Locking Retractors (A/ELR). When fully extended, they ratchet back into position, fully securing child safety seats. Front seatbelts have pretensioners and load limiters for enhanced safety.
Front, Front Side and Curtain Airbags
Every Forester has dual front, front side and curtain airbags offering greater head, chest and lower back protection from injury in a heavy collision. Dual front airbags feature two stage inflators, which control the airbag opening according to impact force. Sensors within the vehicles determine the severity of the impact and deploy the appropriate airbags as and if required.
DataDot Technology
All Subaru Forester models are fitted with the latest advanced engine immobilisers and DataDot technology. Approximately 7,000 microscopic dots are laser-etched with your vehicle’s unique VIN, then applied to the components via a patented spraying process. Window labels warn potential thieves that your vehicle and all its component parts will be easily identifiable for the authorities.
