Front inverted strut suspension

Front inverted strut suspension

An inverted strut suspension type has been featured on the new STI. On top of the improved stability performance yielded by the wider track and shorter overhangs, the road-holding ability of the tyres has been greatly improved by optimising the suspension geometry, including toe and camber angles, andstretching the suspension stroke.

Rear double wishbone suspension

Rear wishbone suspension

A newly developed double wishbone suspension features on the new STI. Superior road-holding ability was achieved by optimising the suspension geometry, including toe and camber angles, by regulating the lift motion and by stretching the overall suspension stroke.

Brembo ventilated disc brake system

An exclusive ventilated disc brake system for the new Impreza WRX STI was jointly developed with Brembo. The braking system uses 4-pot front and 2-pot rear callipers combined with 4-wheel ventilated discs.

This in combination with super-flow expansion brake hoses, a tie-rod type brake booster, an improved brake pedal system and a optimized master cylinder design,  has enhanced the overall response and controllability of the brake system over the previous model.

Brake Assist

STI Brembo brakes

Brake Assist is an intelligent braking system that helps to detect emergency braking and assists by automatically increasing the braking pressure to ensure more rapid (and therefore safer) braking.

Super Sports ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)

4 channel, 4 sensor ABS brakes equipped with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist ensures optimum brake performance at all times.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) helps minimise brake distance by applying different braking force according to weight distribution and load.

To find out more about our ABS brake systems go to the Subaru Advanced Driving area within the Subaru Australia website.

Hill Start Assist System

The Hill Start Assist System helps with tricky incline starting, by holding the brake pressure for approximately 1 second after the brake pedal has been released.  This helps prevent excessive “roll back”.
