Safety Frequently Asked Questions
My new child seat fittings are not compatible with the mounting points in our car. What should I do?
The problem is that the old "keyhole" fittings were discontinued in 1993. After then, all new restraints and vehicles came with "hook" fittings. There are two possible solutions: one is to replace the "keyhole" fitting in the car with a "hook" fitting. The other is to buy a converter that will allow you to fit the seat to either type of mounting point.
What should I do if my vehicle doesn't have provisions for child restraints?
Child restraint anchorage points were introduced into passenger cars from 1976. Generally, vehicles built prior to this date, some sports cars and many commercial vehicles won't have anchorage points. In most cases they can be installed, however the cost varies. If your car doesn't have anchorage points we strongly recommend that you contact an approved child restraint fitter.
