Forester wins again

The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Subaru Forester has been named the Compact SUV People’s Choice for the second consecutive year by the Carsales Network websites.

In what Carsales described as a “landslide victory” the Forester repeated its 2008 success.

Carsales wrote: “One of our favorite Compact SUV models, the Subaru Forester is a worthy winner of this year’s PCA (People’s Choice Awards). This year the third-generation of the Forester took out the category by a landslide margin, repeating its 2008 win over the segment’s usual default choices: Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV-4.” Nick Senior Managing Director, Subaru Australia, said: “Forester has been a stand-out sales success this year and is likely to finish 2009 as the best-selling SUV across all categories.

“This is reflected in the Carsales award and we’re delighted that it’s maintained this status for the second year in a row.”

Voting for the Carsales Network awards is based on genuine new car purchase enquiries placed via Carsales’ network of websites, including www.carsales.com.au, www.CarPoint.com.au, www.Redbook.com.au, www.discountnewcars.com.au and www.prestigenewcars.com.au.

Votes were tallied over a 12-month period from November 1, 2008 to October 31, 2009, with each genuine enquiry on a new car via one of the Carsales websites equaling one vote.

The Forester win follows the recent awards success by the Subaru Liberty and Outback.

Outback was named Best SUV Under $40,000 in Fairfax’s Drive Car of the Year 2009 awards.

In the national motoring organisations’ Australia’s Best Cars 2009 (ABC) awards Liberty 3.6R Premium was named Best Prestige Car and Outback 2.5i – Best Recreational 4WD.
