The FG Falcon EcoLPi has been voted the country’s Best Large Car Under $60,000 in the annual Australian motoring organisations’ annual Best Cars Awards.

It is the first time an LPG-powered car has won the award.

“In considering the Falcon EcoLPi, the majority opinion of the judges was that Ford’s efforts in producing an LPG Falcon that was as good to drive, if not better than a comparable petrol Falcon deserved recognition,” the judging panel said.

Ford Australia has taken out four awards at the highly respected 2011 Drive Car of The Year awards in Sydney.

Ford Fiesta has reinforced its popularity with motorists by scooping the pool at this year’s car of the year awards.

The Ford Fiesta LX has taken home the title of Australia’s Best Small Car 2009 in Australia’s Best Car Awards. Presented by the Australian Automobile Association on behalf of Australia's Motoring Clubs, the judges praised the Fiesta LX for its value for money, safety, security and space.

The red dot design awards are presented annually by Germany's Essen-based Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, and it's one of the world's largest design recognition programmes.

The Australian Automobile Association, on behalf of Australia’s top motoring clubs, including the RAA, NRMA and RACV, has presented the Ford Falcon XT with the 2008 ‘Best Large Car’ award.

In what is considered one of the most comprehensive and exhaustive independent testing and award programs, the FG Falcon has emerged as the clear cut winner.

Australia’s only national newspaper best car award, the ‘Carsguide Car of the Year’ has been awarded to the Ford Falcon G6E Turbo for 2008.

Carsguide judges have heaped praise on the Australian designed and built Falcon, calling it “The best Falcon to roll out of Broadmeadows, perhaps even the best ever Australian made car.”

For a second consecutive year, the Ford Mondeo LX has been awarded the 'Best Medium Car' in Drive.com.au’s Car of the Year Awards for 2008.

Despite even closer competition from its rivals this year, Mondeo again came out in front thanks in particular to its assertive pricing, interior space, superior driving dynamics and safety credentials.

The all-new FG Falcon has become the first Australian-built car to receive a 5 (five) star rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

The petrol FG Falcon sedan range was awarded the maximum 5 (five) star safety rating rating with a total score of 34.6 points (out of a possible 37 points), giving it the highest score ever recorded by a locally produced car in Australia by a significant margin.
