About Jarvis
In 1984, Jarvis Ford was purchased from the Jarvis family by a new owner. At the time, Jarvis Ford employed forty two people and operated from the one location at Portrush Road, Norwood.
The new owner retained the Jarvis name and began to implement his own style of running Jarvis Ford, together with an expansion program. Firstly, additional land was purchased and developed around the Norwood dealership. This was soon followed by the purchase of Frontline Ford, Hillcrest, which also began trading under the Jarvis Ford name.
The Norwood and Hillcrest dealerships flourished and today, Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest stock the entire range of new Ford vehicles including Fiesta, Focus, Falcon, Territory, Escape, Ranger, Mondeo, Kuga and Transit Van as well as the fantastic range of Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) like GT, GT-P, GT E, GS, GS Ute, F6, F6 E and F6 Ute. Jarvis Ford Norwood & Jarvis Ford Hillcrest are also home to Used Car Departments which stock all makes and models of cars including used Ford, Toyota, Holden, Mazda, Hyundai, Subaru, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki, Isuzu Ute, Kia… the list goes on!
Due to the success of Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest, in 1996 a state of the art dealership was built at one of the busiest traffic intersections in Adelaide on the corner of Main North & Grand Junction Roads, Gepps Cross and began trading as Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross. Within two years of opening, Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross became one of the most successful used car operations in Australia. Like Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest, Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross sells all makes and models of used cars, but due to the enormous size of the dealership, it houses considerably more used car stock and is the largest used car location in Adelaide. The huge selection of used cars at Jarvis Gepps Cross expanded even further when the land across the road from the original site was purchased to establish Jarvis 4x4 and Jarvis Commercial vehicles.
The Jarvis group continued to expand in 1997 with the acquisition of Treloar Motors, Kensington. This location commenced trading under the Jarvis Ford name and also housed Jarvis Ford’s Reconditioning Department. The Jarvis Used Car Reconditioning Department sees every used vehicle at Jarvis undertake a stringent safety and mechanical check, along with meeting specific quality standards before being available for sale at any Jarvis location.
October 2001 saw Jarvis appointed as Toyota dealer. Jarvis Toyota provides Jarvis new and used car customers with the choice of the entire range of new Toyota vehicles, including Yaris, Corolla, Camry, Prius, Aurion, 86, Rukus, RAV4, Rukus, Prado, Kluger, LandCruiser, HiLux, Prius, Avensis and Tarago, together with a Used Car Department which doesn’t just stock used Toyotas, but all makes and models of used cars.
The Jarvis group continued its expansion in 2006 with the acquisition of United Motors Subaru on the corner of West Terrace & Hindley Streets, Adelaide. Jarvis Subaru commenced trading on June 1, 2006, providing new vehicle customers with the choice of the entire range of new Subaru vehicles, including Impreza, Forester, Outback, Liberty, Tribeca, WRX and WRX STI, together with Subaru Service & Subaru Parts departments. Due to the high demand for used Subaru vehicles and the opportunity to service Subarus outside of the CBD, the Jarvis Ford site at Kensington was rebranded as Jarvis Subaru Used Vehicles in September 2006, and also operates as the second Jarvis Subaru Service location.
Then came Jarvis Subaru Medindie in 2008. At 29 Main North Road Medindie, and right in the middle of what is arguably one of the busiest new and used car dealer strips in Adelaide, Jarvis Subaru is the only dealer to offer the entire range of new Subarus, as well as demonstrator Subarus and Subaru Assured used vehicles.
After almost 4 years at West Terrace, the need to find a new home for Jarvis Subaru saw Jarvis build and open a brand new dealership in early 2010, just down the road at 190 West Terrace Adelaide. Jarvis Subaru West Terrace's stunning showroom is now home to the entire range of new Subarus, including Impreza, Liberty, Forester, Outback, Tribeca, XV, BRZ, WRX and WRX STI. Like all Jarvis locations, Jarvis Subaru's state of the art facilities provide free wireless internet hot spots and, in the customer waiting areas, big screen televisions, the latest magazines, complimentary water and soft drinks, and of course fantastic coffee!
As part of the Jarvis Group's first move beyond the greater Adelaide area, Jarvis Barossa was established in May 2012 at the old Eblen Subaru site at 71 Murray Street, Angaston. In addition to Jarvis Subaru, this new venture also introduced two new brands to Jarvis - Suzuki and Isuzu Ute. As part of Jarvis Barossa, Jarvis Subaru, and now Jarvis Suzuki and Jarvis Isuzu Ute offer the entire range of new Subaru, Suzuki and Isuzu Ute vehicles, including Impreza, Forester, Outback, Liberty, Tribeca, WRX, WRX STI, Kizashi, Swift, Alto, SX4, Jimny Sierra, Grand Vitara, APV, and D-Max.
There are now eight major Jarvis locations around Adelaide and the Barossa Valley and new and used cars are sold at all locations excluding Jarvis Gepps Cross & Jarvis Subaru Kensington. Jarvis also has a very strong background in Fleet Sales in Adelaide, with the choice of new Ford Fleet, new Toyota Fleet, new Subaru Fleet, new Suzuki Fleet and new Isuzu Ute Fleet vehicles for our Fleet buyers. All Jarvis locations, with the exception of Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross (used cars only) and Jarvis Subaru Medindie are also home to Service Departments where fully trained Technicians can service and repair all makes and models, not just Ford, Toyota, Subaru, Suzuki and Isuzu Ute. Jarvis Service Departments can also perform your manufacturers scheduled servicing, warranty repairs and, of course, the Jarvis Fixed Price Service.
Already a registered tyre dealer, and with a renewed focus on providing our Service customers with a huge range of tyres and tyre fitting services, Jarvis rebranded its Service locations as Jarvis Service and Tyre Centres in 2010. Since 1995, Jarvis has donated in excess of $1.2 million to South Australian and South East Asian charities. Major support is provided to Variety, The Childrens Charity, the Royal District Nursing Service, Adelaide Zoo and Animals Asia.
Approximately 300 staff make up “Team Jarvis” and many have been employed at Jarvis for over ten years, some for over twenty and there's even a few over 30!
