About Jarvis Ford, Jarvis Toyota and Jarvis Subaru

In 1984, Jarvis Ford was purchased from the Jarvis family by a new owner.  At the time Jarvis Ford employed forty two people and operated from the one location at Portrush Road, Norwood.

The new owner retained the Jarvis name and began to implement his own style of running Jarvis Ford, together with an expansion program.  Firstly, additional land was purchased and developed around the Norwood dealership.  This was soon followed by the purchase of Frontline Ford, Hillcrest, which also began trading under the Jarvis Ford name.

The Norwood and Hillcrest dealerships flourished.  Today, Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest stock the entire range of new Ford (Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Ford Falcon, Ford Fairmont, Ford Fairlane, Ford Territory, Ford Falcon Ute, F Series, Ford Ranger,  Ford XR range – including Ford Fiesta XR4 and Ford Focus XR5, Ford Falcon XR6, Ford Falcon XR8 and Jarvis Ford is eagerly awaiting the release of the new Ford Mondeo, Ford Focus convertible and Ford Focus Diesel!).  Jarvis Ford Norwood & Jarvis Ford Hillcrest also house fantastic used car departments which stock all makes and models of cars including used Ford, used Toyota, used Holden, used Mazda, used Hyundai, used Subaru, used Nissan, used Honda, used Jeep, used Kia… the list goes on and on!!

Due to the success of Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest, in 1996 a state of the art dealership was built at one of the busiest traffic intersections in Adelaide at the corner of Main North & Grand Junction Roads, Gepps Cross and began trading as Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross.  Whilst Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross only sells used cars, it became, within two years of opening, one of the most successful used car operations in Australia.  Like Jarvis Ford Norwood and Jarvis Ford Hillcrest, Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross sells all makes and models of used cars – but due to the enormous size of the dealership, it does house considerably more used car stock and is the largest used car location in Adelaide, so not only is there the usual list of used Ford, used Toyota, used Holden, used Mazda, used Hyundai, used Subaru, used Nissan, used Honda, used Jeep, used Kia… the list expands to other makes of used cars.  The huge selection of used cars at Jarvis Gepps Cross expanded even further when the land across the road from the original Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross site was purchased to house Jarvis 4x4 and Jarvis Commercial vehicles

The Jarvis group continued to expand in 1997 with the acquisition of Treloar Motors, Kensington.  This location commenced trading under the Jarvis Ford name and also housed Jarvis Ford’s Reconditioning Department.  The Jarvis used car reconditioning department sees every used vehicle at Jarvis undertake a stringent safety and mechanical check, along with meeting certain quality standards before any used car becoming available for sale at any Jarvis location.

October 2001 saw Jarvis appointed as Toyota dealer.  Jarvis Toyota provides Jarvis new and used car customers with the choice of the entire range of new Toyota, (Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Toyota Aurion, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Prado, Toyota Kluger, Toyota  Landcruiser, Toyota Hilux, Toyota Prius, Toyota Avensis, Toyota Tarago),  together with a used car department which doesn’t just stock used Toyota, but all makes and models of used cars – used Ford, used Toyota, used Holden, used Mazda, used Hyundai, used Subaru, used Nissan, used Honda, used Jeep, used Kia…and one of Jarvis’ favourites, used Mitsubishi, as Jarvis Toyota is located at 1278 South Road, Clovellly Park, right next door to the Mitsubishi Factory!

The Jarvis group continued its expansion in 2006 with the acquisition of United Motors Subaru, corner of West Terrace & Hindley Streets, Adelaide. Jarvis Subaru commenced trading on June 1, 2006, providing Jarvis new vehicle customers with the choice of the entire range of new Subaru (Subaru Impreza, Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback, Subaru Liberty, Subaru Tribeca, Subaru WRX, Subaru WRX STi), together with Subaru Service & Subaru Parts departments.  Due to the high demand of Subaru used vehicles and the opportunity to service Subaru outside of the CBD, the Jarvis Ford site at Kensington was rebadged as Jarvis Subaru Used Vehicles in September 2006, also operating as the second Jarvis Subaru servicing facility and the Jarvis Subaru reconditioning department (the Jarvis Ford reconditioning department being relocated to Jarvis Ford Hillcrest).

There are now six major Jarvis locations around Adelaide. New and used cars are sold in all locations (excluding Jarvis Gepps Cross & Jarvis Subaru Kensington – used cars only,).  Jarvis also has a very strong background in Fleet Sales in Adelaide, with the choice of new Ford Fleet, new Toyota Fleet and new Subaru Fleet for our Fleet buyers.  Jarvis caters to all businesses Fleet requirements, whether the small business owner or the largest company.

All Jarvis locations, with the exception of Jarvis Ford Gepps Cross (used cars only), house a Service Department with fully trained technicians catering to all makes and models of used cars, not just Ford, Toyota and Subaru.

It should also be noted that all Jarvis new car and used car consultants have to undertake the Motor Trades Association accreditation course.  The accreditation was introduced by the Motor Trade Association as part of the self governing of the automotive industry to ensure the public of South Australia received the most professional and ethical sales assistance when purchasing a new or used car.  The Jarvis group was please to accept the invitation by the Motor Trades Association to be the first fully accredited dealership in South Australia in January 2004.

The entire Jarvis operation is Quality Endorsed.  In fact, Jarvis is one of the few major vehicle dealerships that has its used cars Quality Endorsed.  The internationally recognised standards and systems that Jarvis has in place ensure high standards in all Jarvis products and services – New Cars, Used Cars, Service and Parts Departments… and guarantee that when Jarvis says “we’ll do it”, that job will be done!

The Jarvis philosophy on running a successful business doesn’t stop with providing great service to new and used car customers.  It’s one thing to grow and expand a business, but it’s also important to support the local community and charities.  Since 1995, Jarvis has donated in excess of $600,000 to South Australian charities.  Due to the overwhelming number of requests for sponsorship, a number of years ago Jarvis adopted a policy of assisting one or two charities in a major way, rather than spreading the limited amount of sponsorship dollars too thinly amongst multiple organisations.  Major support is provided to Variety, The Childrens Charity, and the Royal District Nursing Service, with Jarvis Subaru sponsoring the Adelaide 36ers.

As for Jarvis staff –there’s nearly 300 of them... “Team Jarvis”!    Many who work on the Jarvis team have been employed at Jarvis for over ten years – some for over twenty.  This is recognised on the Jarvis ‘Honour Boards’ which can be seen on the walls of Jarvis locations around Adelaide.  The staff who have achieved this honour (and some say it’s been hard work, but they love it!!) range from new car and used car Managers, new car and used car Sales Consultants, Administration staff and of course, Service Staff.

Jarvis even uses its own staff in the television commercials which are regularly seen on Adelaide, usually promoting ‘the absolute best price’  This theme is one of the reasons the Jarvis group has enjoyed so much success – not only do Jarvis customers receive great service, they also receive the absolute best price and discounts on new Ford, new Toyota and new Subaru, together with the absolute best price and discounts on the enormous range of used cars, all makes and models, that are available from the six Jarvis locations.  Jarvis customers aren’t just from Adelaide, they are located all around Australia and enjoy the convenience of buying interstate with Jarvis Interstate Easybuy.

For the full year 2007, Jarvis Ford was the top selling used car dealer in Ford Australia.  This means Jarvis Ford sold more used cars than any other Ford dealer in the country.  This result was achieved by offering customers the absolute best price on used cars.  Due to the large amount of used car stock we carry Jarvis was able to offer customers a huge selection of all makes and models of popular vehicles available for sale in Australia, including used Ford, used Holden, used Toyota, used Mazda, used Honda, used Mitsubishi, used Nissan, used Hyundai, used Subaru, used Jeep, used commercial vehicles, used 4 wheel drives, used utes, used wagons, used hatches, used sedans…the list goes on! Jarvis Ford was in the top selling new Ford Focus and new Ford Fiesta dealers in Australia.  Once again this was achieved by having the absolute best new car price.  Jarvis continually monitors prices and offers new car discount to appeal to the low price budget buyer.

Jarvis Toyota was the top performing Toyota dealer in Adelaide in 2007.  Our new Toyota sales as a percentage against objective was the highest.  This was able to be achieved by offering new Toyotas at low prices with big discounts.  Jarvis sells new Yaris, new Toyota Corolla, new Toyota Camry, new Toyota Avalon, new Toyota Rav 4, new Toyota Hilux, new Toyota Hiace, new Toyota Prado, new Toyota Kluger, new Toyota Landcruiser all from the one site at Clovelly Park, a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia.

Jarvis Toyota used vehicles grew substantially in sales over the previous year.  This growth was due to the large inventory of used Toyota passenger and used Toyota commercial vehicles offered for sale.  We constantly monitors our pricing of all Jarvis Toyota used Toyota stock.

Jarvis Subaru completed its first calendar year as a Subaru dealer in Adelaide.  An incredible result was achieved with Jarvis Subaru finishing as the largest Subaru dealer in Adelaide.  This was achieved by offering new Subaru vehicles at low prices with big discounts.  Jarvis Subaru sell new Subaru Impreza, new Subaru Forrester, new Subaru Liberty, new Subaru Outback, new Subaru WRX, new Subaru STI, new Subaru Tribecca from the one location in Adelaide.

Jarvis Subaru sold more used Subaru than any other dealer in Adelaide in 2007.  This was achieved by offering a large choice of used Subaru vehicles from our Kensington location.

The Jarvis group set a  new record for the number of vehicle services carried out at our service facilities around Adelaide.  Eventhough Jarvis specialise in selling new Ford, new Toyota and new Subaru we service all makes and models of vehicles, including used Holden, used Mitsubishi, used Mazda, used Honda, used Hyundai, used Nissan, used Jeep, used commercial vehicles, used utes…the list goes on!

If you wish to have your vehicle serviced at competitive prices, ring our Service booking line on 1300 13 77 44.
